Digitization Pricing

Simple, Per-Item Pricing

No hidden per-project fees baked into a confusing bundle. You pay per item, plus the two flat service fees required for every order.

Printed Loose Photos

One flat rate per photo, no tiers to choose from.

Standard prints up to 8×10, scanned at high resolution and lightly cleaned up. We’ll scan both sides at no extra charge to preserve any handwritten notes on the back.

25¢ each

35mm Slide Pricing

Four resolution tiers, priced by how you plan to use the scans. Pixel sizes shown are from a typical slide — exact dimensions vary from slide to slide. Infrared dust & scratch removal isn’t possible on Kodachrome slides.

50¢ each
≈ 666 × 442 px (0.3 MP)

For screen viewing and digital sharing.

For prints up to 11×14, with sharper detail. Not available for every slide, depending on clarity and condition.

Museum Quality

Archival

6400 DPI Scan
$10.00 each
≈ 10,021 × 6,721 px (67 MP)
✓ Infrared dust & scratch removal

Maximum detail, for large prints and museum-quality preservation. Not available for every slide, depending on clarity and condition.

Negatives Pricing

For developed film negatives — the processed strips or sheets your prints were made from, not undeveloped rolls of film. Priced by format and resolution tier; output sizes are approximate and vary by frame.

35mm

Per Frame · Same tiers as slides
  • Basic800 DPI · ≈ 0.3 MP · no infrared pass50¢

  • Enhanced3000–4000 DPI · ≈ 7.5 MP · ✓ infrared pass$4.00
  • Archival6400 DPI · ≈ 67 MP · ✓ infrared pass$10.00

The most common negative format, from standard consumer film cameras.

120 Medium Format

Per Frame
  • Basic800 DPI · ≈ 3 MP · no infrared pass$1.00
  • Standard1200 DPI · ≈ 7 MP · ✓ infrared pass$2.00
  • Enhanced2400 DPI · ≈ 28 MP · ✓ infrared pass$5.00
  • Archival3200 DPI · ≈ 50 MP · ✓ infrared pass$12.00

Sizes shown for a 6×6 frame; 6×4.5, 6×7, and 6×9 vary. From twin-lens and other vintage medium format cameras.

4×5 Large Format

Per Sheet
  • Standard1200 DPI · ≈ 26 MP · ✓ infrared pass$3.00
  • Enhanced1800 DPI · ≈ 58 MP · ✓ infrared pass$6.00
  • Archival2400 DPI · ≈ 100 MP · ✓ infrared pass$10.00

Individual sheet negatives from view cameras. Capped at 2400 DPI — higher settings only make bigger files, not sharper ones.

Negatives are fragile and can become brittle, curled, or stuck together with age. Results vary depending on condition, and we’ll let you know if any of yours can’t be safely scanned. Infrared dust & scratch removal is included on every tier except Basic, and works on color negatives but not traditional black & white film, which gets careful manual dust cleanup instead. High-resolution medium and large format orders produce very large files, so beyond our 64GB USB drive you’ll most likely need a hard drive or additional USB drives ($20 each).

VHS & Video Tape Digitization

VHS, VHS-C, and 8mm video cassette tapes — converted to digital video so your home movies are safe and easy to watch again. Not to be confused with 8mm film reels; see Film Digitization below.

VHS & VHS-C

Per Tape
$30 up to 2 hrs

$10 or more per additional hour on that same tape.

8mm Video Cassette

Per Tape
$20 up to 2 hrs

Additional time quoted separately.

All video is delivered at 1080p. Because video files are much larger than photo or slide scans, our 64GB USB drives fill up fast, so video orders will most likely need a hard drive or additional USB drives ($20 each) — we’ll confirm before proceeding.

8mm & Super 8 Film Digitization

Sent to a specialized lab locally for expert handling. Turnaround is 2–4 weeks, longer than our in-house services.

8mm & Super 8 (Silent)

Per Foot
25¢ / ft

Examples: 50ft = $12.50 · 100ft = $25.00 · 200ft = $50.00 · 400ft = $100.00

Super 8 (w/ Sound)

Per Foot
50¢ / ft

Examples: 50ft = $25.00 · 100ft = $50.00 · 200ft = $100.00 · 400ft = $200.00

Film Splicing

Only If Needed
$5.00 / splice

Charged per splice, only if your film needs splicing to prepare it for transfer.

If the condition of your film is poor, we may not be able to digitize it. Storage for these transfers is a separate $20 per 1,500 ft device fee — the standard $25 USB drive and $50 cleaning fee don’t apply when your order is 8mm or Super 8 film only.

Our Equipment

Dust & Scratch Removal, Built Into the Scan

We use high-power scanning equipment with an integrated infrared light source, designed for automatic, hardware-level dust and scratch removal, not a software filter applied after the fact. This gets you the best quality possible. For slides and negatives, the infrared pass is included with every tier except Basic. Infrared cleanup doesn’t work on Kodachrome slides or traditional black & white film.

Pass 1

Visible Light (RGB)

A standard RGB visible light pass captures the full-color image, exactly as your photo or slide actually looks.

Pass 2

Infrared Mapping

A secondary infrared pass maps physical surface imperfections, including hair, dust, and scratches, so they can be automatically corrected at the hardware level.

Keeping your memories alive.

Services & Add-Ons

What’s Included, and What’s Optional

Two fees apply to every order. Everything else below is optional, based on what your project needs.

USB Drive Required

$25 flat

64GB USB, purchased new for every order. Your finished files are delivered on it. We don’t keep a digital copy after delivery. Larger orders may need an additional USB drive ($20 each) or a hard drive — we’ll confirm before proceeding.

Cleaning & Editing Required

$50 flat

Per job, not per item. Covers two things: physically cleaning your photos or slides before scanning for the best possible scan, and editing the resulting digital images to restore the best clarity. Full damage restoration (tears, major deterioration) is not included.

Advanced Cleaning & Restoration

50¢ / item

Extra physical cleaning before scanning, for items that need more than our standard cleaning covers. This is physical cleaning only, not digital retouching — we don’t offer Photoshop-style restoration. $25 minimum per order.

File Format

No Extra Charge

Standard JPEG by default. Prefer uncompressed TIFF files for archival purposes? Just ask and we’ll deliver those instead.

Photo Album Removal

$20 / album

If your photos are still in albums and need to be removed before scanning.

Slide Covers

$30 / 500 slides

Protective covers for your slides.

Storage Binder

$50 each

Fireproof, water-resistant binder that holds roughly 750 slides. Protector sleeves sold separately.

Hard Drive

Varies

Our USB drives hold 64GB. When an order won’t fit, you can add another USB drive ($20 each) or move to a hard drive, which is typical for 200+ items ($150+ projects) and for video or high-resolution scans. We’ll confirm by email before proceeding.

Shutterfly Printed Album

Quoted separately

We’ll upload your scans to Shutterfly on your behalf to create a printed album. Priced and confirmed with you before ordering.
