Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Praepara mobile application (the “App”), owned and operated by Modus Creatio L.L.C. By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree, you must not use the App.
Section 1 — Informational Purpose & Limitation of Liability
1.1 Educational and General Guidance Purpose
The Praepara application and all content, tools, calculators, text, graphics, and materials contained herein are provided strictly for informational, educational, and general guidance purposes to assist the general public in organizing and understanding their home insurance claims process.
1.2 No Substitution for Official Policy or Legal Advice
This App does not constitute, provide, or replace official policy rules, legal advice, financial advice, or formal claims processing procedures. Users are solely responsible for verifying any information derived from the App against official sources before taking action.
1.3 Use At Your Own Risk
1.4 No Security Guarantee
- No digital system can guarantee absolute security
- Modus Creatio L.L.C. does not guarantee that the App or any data stored within it will be free from unauthorized access, data breaches, or security vulnerabilities
- Modus Creatio L.L.C. shall not be liable for any unauthorized access to, or disclosure of, your data
- You assume full responsibility for securing your device and any backups of your data
1.5 Limitation of Liability
Section 2 — Eligibility & Acceptable Use
2.1 Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years of age to use this App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.
2.2 Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to: use the App for any fraudulent or illegal purpose; attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App; use the App to store or transmit any unlawful, harmful, or defamatory content; or interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App.
Section 3 — Subscription & Payment Terms
3.1 Free Trial
Praepara offers a 72-hour (3-day) free trial for new subscribers. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you cancel before the trial period expires, you will not be charged.
3.2 Subscription and Auto-Renewal
After the free trial, Praepara is available for $9.99 per year, billed annually.
3.3 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through Google Play → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to the App until that date. No partial refunds are provided for unused time within a billing period.
3.4 Refunds
All refund requests are handled by Google Play in accordance with their refund policy. Refunds are generally not available after 48 hours of purchase, except where required by applicable law.
3.5 Price Changes
Modus Creatio L.L.C. reserves the right to change the subscription price. You will be given advance notice of any price change and the opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect.
Section 4 — Data Privacy & Local Storage
Praepara is designed with a privacy-first architecture. All data — including policy numbers, claim numbers, inventory items, photos, and personal information — is stored exclusively on your device using AES-256 encrypted local storage via SQLCipher. Modus Creatio L.L.C. does not transmit, sell, share, or store your personal data on external servers. Any cloud backup features use your own cloud storage accounts and are controlled entirely by you.
Section 5 — Third-Party Data & Services
Certain features use publicly available third-party data sources, including: National Weather Service (NWS), Open-Meteo, RainViewer, and OpenStreetMap/CARTO. Modus Creatio L.L.C. does not own, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy of any third-party data. Weather alerts are informational only — always follow official emergency guidance from local authorities. All third-party services operate under their respective public APIs and terms of service.
PDF generation within the App is powered by PDFBox Android, an open-source library licensed under the Apache License 2.0. PDF documents are generated entirely on your device. No data is transmitted to any external server during the PDF creation process. PDFBox Android is maintained independently of Modus Creatio L.L.C. and is not affiliated with or endorsed by us.
Section 6 — Intellectual Property
All original content, design, logos, branding, and software code in the App are the intellectual property of Modus Creatio L.L.C. and protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works without prior written consent from Modus Creatio L.L.C.
Section 7 — Termination
Modus Creatio L.L.C. reserves the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. All data stored locally on your device remains on your device and is not deleted by Modus Creatio L.L.C.
Section 8 — Recovery Passphrase & Data Loss
- Your recovery passphrase is generated locally on your device and is never transmitted to or stored by Modus Creatio L.L.C.
- If you lose or forget your recovery passphrase, your encrypted data cannot be recovered by Modus Creatio L.L.C. or any third party
- Loss of your recovery passphrase may result in permanent, irrecoverable loss of all data stored in the App
- You are solely responsible for securely storing and backing up your recovery passphrase
- Modus Creatio L.L.C. shall not be liable for any data loss resulting from loss of your recovery passphrase

Section 10 — Modifications to These Terms
Modus Creatio L.L.C. reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. When material changes are made, the effective date will be updated and notice will be provided within the App where required by law. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
Section 11 — General Provisions
Governing Law: These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the state in which Modus Creatio L.L.C. is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Force Majeure: Modus Creatio L.L.C. shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to causes beyond its reasonable control.
Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms. Modus Creatio L.L.C. may assign its rights without restriction.
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Modus Creatio L.L.C. regarding the App and supersede all prior agreements.
No Professional Advice: Nothing in the App constitutes legal, financial, insurance, or professional advice of any kind.
Section 12 — Electronic Consent
By tapping “I Agree” within the App, you consent to enter into these Terms electronically. This electronic agreement is valid and enforceable under the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-SIGN Act, 15 U.S.C. § 7001) and constitutes a binding electronic signature.

By tapping “I Agree,” you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms, including the binding arbitration and class action waiver in Section 9, and consent to electronic contracting under the E-SIGN Act as described in Section 12.

Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Praepara mobile application (“App”), owned and operated by Modus Creatio L.L.C., handles your information. We built Praepara on a simple principle: your personal data belongs to you, and only you. Modus Creatio L.L.C. is the data controller for purposes of this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Praepara does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. The following data is created and stored exclusively on your device:
- Home inventory items (photos, descriptions, serial numbers, estimated values)
- Personal and financial documents stored in the Biometric Vault
- Insurance policy and claim reference numbers
- Emergency contacts and recovery notes
- Location data (used only for weather alerts and photo metadata — never transmitted)
- App preferences and notification settings
We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or any third-party data collection tools.
2. Sensitive Financial and Insurance Data
Praepara is designed to store sensitive financial and insurance data, including policy numbers, claim numbers, contractor information, payment records, and related documents. All such data is encrypted using AES-256 and stored exclusively on your device. This data is never transmitted to Modus Creatio L.L.C. or any third party. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the information you enter.
3. How Data Is Stored and Secured
All data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption via SQLCipher. Your Biometric Vault requires fingerprint or face authentication (via Android BiometricPrompt) before access. Encryption keys are managed by the Android Keystore system on your device. Photos and documents are stored in your device’s internal private storage — inaccessible to other apps. Modus Creatio L.L.C. operates with zero backend infrastructure. There are no Praepara servers that receive, process, or store your data.
4. Biometric Data
Modus Creatio L.L.C. does not collect, store, or process biometric data of any kind. Biometric authentication (fingerprint or face unlock) is handled entirely by the Android operating system’s BiometricPrompt API. Your biometric data never leaves your device and is never accessible to Praepara or Modus Creatio L.L.C. This practice is consistent with the requirements of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act, and the Washington My Health MY Data Act, where applicable.
5. Recovery Passphrase
Your recovery passphrase is generated locally on your device. It is never transmitted to or stored by Modus Creatio L.L.C. If you enable cloud backup, an encrypted copy of your data may be stored in your personal Google Drive account — Modus Creatio L.L.C. has zero access to this backup. If you lose your recovery passphrase, your data may be permanently and irrecoverably lost. You are solely responsible for storing your passphrase securely.
6. Cloud Backup (Optional)
If you choose to enable cloud backup, Praepara supports Google Drive using the drive.appdata scope. This scope stores backup files in a hidden app-specific folder that is invisible in your Google Drive file browser. All backup destinations:
- Receive only encrypted copies of your local data
- Are stored on your personal accounts — not on Modus Creatio L.L.C. servers
- Can be disabled or deleted by you at any time through your Google account settings
7. Location Data
Praepara uses your device location for two purposes only: fetching relevant National Weather Service alerts for your area, and embedding GPS metadata in inventory photos at the time of capture. Location data is truncated to approximately 1km precision for weather requests. Your precise location is never transmitted to Modus Creatio L.L.C. or any third party beyond what is required by the public weather APIs.
8. Third-Party Services
Praepara integrates with the following public APIs to deliver weather features:
- National Weather Service (NWS) — weather alerts
- Open-Meteo — weather forecasts
- RainViewer — radar imagery
- OpenStreetMap / CARTO — map tiles
These services receive only the minimum data required (approximate coordinates) and operate under their own privacy policies. Praepara does not share your personal inventory, vault, or claims data with any third party.
Praepara also uses the following open-source software component on-device:
- PDFBox Android (Apache License 2.0) — generates PDF exports entirely on your device. No data leaves your device during PDF creation.
9. Data Sharing
Modus Creatio L.L.C. does not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third parties. The only data that ever leaves your device is: (a) approximate coordinates sent to public weather APIs; (b) what you explicitly choose to export (such as emailing a PDF to your adjuster); or (c) encrypted backups stored to your own chosen cloud storage account.
10. No Tracking or Advertising
Praepara contains no advertising of any kind. We do not use Google Advertising ID (GAID), Apple IDFA, or any device identifier for advertising purposes. We do not build behavioral profiles. We do not integrate with any ad networks, marketing platforms, or third-party analytics services.
11. Data Retention
All data retention is controlled entirely by you. Data remains on your device until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data. Cloud backup data can be removed through your respective cloud account settings (e.g., Google Drive app data settings).
12. Children’s Privacy
Praepara is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has used the App, please contact us and we will address it promptly.
13. Your Rights & Data Deletion
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you are always in full control. You may delete individual items within the App at any time, clear all App data through your device’s App Settings, or uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data.
California Residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell data), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.
Virginia, Colorado, and Connecticut Residents: You have the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal data, and to opt out of its sale (we do not sell data).

14. Changes to This Policy
Modus Creatio L.L.C. may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated within the App and reflected in the updated effective date above. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
